The Hamilton County Relay for Life Committee has announced that the 2013 fundraiser will go on the road to Jewell.
In an effort to make Relay for Life a more inclusive county event, organizers said there will be a new location this year. The goal is for future relays to also travel to several Hamilton County communities, giving other towns in the county an opportunity to host the event.
The Relay for Life of Hamilton County 2013 is scheduled for June 28, from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the South Hamilton High School Track.
Bev Huisman, of Webster City, is this year's Hamilton County Relay for Life chairman. Committee members are currently contacting corporate sponsors and previous teams to distribute team organizational packets so they may start planning fundraising events. New teams are always welcome; those interested in participating or registering a team, contact Huisman at 832-4785 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Organizers said the American Cancer Society Relay for Life is a community celebration where individuals and teams participate in games, theme events, and take turns walking around a track relay-style to raise funds, while celebrating the lives of those who have had cancer, remembering those lost, and fighting back against the disease.
