Stuffed animal donation

April 4, 2013
The Daily Freeman Journal
Glenn Tjaden, President of the Noon Kiwanis Club recently presented Police Chief Brian Hughes with a supply of stuffed animals to ride along in the police cars. The animals are given by the officers to young children needing comfort during incidents of domestic abuse calls or accidents. The project is one of the oldest the club does. It started out as the 'Rose and Toy' fund and now is called the 'Hospital Toy Cart', where stuffed animals are given to the local hospital for pediatric patients. Donating to the Police Cars was added to the project in 2010. The club now donates approximately 150 stuffed animals annually to both projects.
