Harmony Brigade to celebrate barbershop

Several quartets to be featured

The Harmony Brigade Barbershop Chorus, located in Fort Dodge, is joining The Barbershop Harmony Society in celebrating 75 years of harmony at its annual show, April 13.

The Barbershop Harmony Society was started in Tulsa Oklahoma, April 11,1938. The Harmony Brigade was chartered in 1947. The Harmony Brigade, consisting of more than 20 male voices under the direction of Clair Nerem, has entertained audiences in and around the Fort Dodge area for the past 66 years. The group rehearses every Tuesday evening at the First Congregational Church of Christ on Williams Drive. Guests are always welcome.

The annual show, Diamond Harmony Celebration, will be at Iowa Central Community College Decker Auditorium April 13. Performance times are 2 and 7pm. Ticket prices are adults $12 students $5 at door and Adults $10 Students $4 in advance. Children 6 and under are free. Order tickets by sending a check and self-addressed envelope to: Harmony Brigade PO Box 302, Fort Dodge, IA 50501. The show features the chorus, three local quartets and two guest award-winning quartets. Featured quartets are "Round Midnight" from the New York area and "Progression" from the St. Louis area.
