The Blairsburg Opera House Preservation Committee will host its annual auction fundraiser on Sat., March 23 beginning with a dinner at 5 p.m. and the auction to follow at 6 p.m.

The Blairsburg Opera House will again be the setting for annual event which helps raise funds to preserve, furnish and restore the 118 year old building.

The free-will pork loin sandwich dinner with beans, dessert and drink will precede the auction.

Joey Koop returns as the event auctioneer which begins at 6 p.m., said Bob Sinclair of the Blairsburg Opera House Preservation Committee.

Auction items were donated by merchants and opera house supporters in Blairsburg, Webster City, Williams and Iowa Falls.

Some of this year's auction items include meat bundles from Custom Meats in Webster City and from Phil and Alberta Voge, a night's cabin stay at Briggs Woods, a large quilt from Laura Weisberg and a small quilt from Iowa Falls Sewing Machine Company. Additional items include a car battery, a round a golf at Briggs Woods, a folding camp rocking chair and gift certificates from Tony's Tire.

Also at auction will be gift certificates from Porter's on Main in Iowa Falls for two rib- eye dinners and two gift certificates for the pasta buffet. On the auction block will also be two bags of seed corn, assorted sewing and knitted craft items, golf items and an umbrella from Edward Jones and a folding chair from Green Belt Bank in Iowa Falls.

Last year's auction fundraiser helped to purchase carpet for the hall. The preservation committee will use proceeds from this year's event to purchase chair storage units.
