Webster City Police Officers responded the accident at 823 Second St. shortly before 8 a.m. after a "Dart Bus vs. truck" crash was reported, according to police call logs. The bus reportedly left the roadway and travelled up over the snow bank and into the yard of the home. The accident also resulted in a utility pole in the area being severed.

The identity of the driver and passengers, the condition of the victims and the cause of the accident have not been released by law enforcement officials. Police scanner activity reported injuries to at least four children and an adult. Van Diest Medical Center ambulances were dispatched to the scene and Jewell Rescue was called to provide mutual aid, according to scanner reports. Mike Sherwood, superintendent of Webster City Schools confirmed that six elementary-age students were on the bus at the time of the crash. He said that while there is no association between the schools and the Midas bus service, parents often contract with Midas to provide transportation for school-age children.
