Tip leads to apprehension by WC police

Individual from Crime Stoppers ‘Most Wanted’ poster found, arrested

February 18, 2013
The Daily Freeman Journal

A tip received from the TipSoft program brought about the arrest of one of the individuals listed on the most recent Hamilton County Crime Stopper's "Most Wanted Poster."

Police Chief Brian Hughes reported that on Friday, the Webster City Police Department received information that Jaime Cervantes, who was wanted for failure to appear for arraignment for OWI first offense, had been observed at 1222 Water Street Apt #2 in Webster City. This information was received through its TipSoft program. Tipsoft is a program that allows citizens to anonymously send text and web-based information to law enforcement in Hamilton County.

Hughes said when city police officers knocked, Cervantes answered the door. Initially, he denied being Jaime Cervantes and stated he was not in the apartment, but when officers confronted him with his picture on the most wanted poster, he admitted he was in fact Jaime Cervantes and knew he had an active warrant.

Officers arrested Cervantes and transported him to the Hamilton County Jail. Upon further investigation it was discovered that Cervantes had provided law enforcement with a fake name. His real name is Gonzales Cervantes Yolman Guadalupe. This was verified by his Mexican identification.

The tipster received a $100 cash reward, according to Hughes.
