A benefit for the family of a shooting victim will be held in Kamrar this weekend. Stacie Philbrook was shot in Aurora, Colo. in early January. Her sister, Stephanie Philbrook Archuleta, escaped the scene. Two others were killed by the shooter before he was shot by police from a second-story window.

Howard Moon, one of the benefit's organizers, said that he and others in the community decided to try and do something to help out Greg Philbrook and the rest of their family in the aftermath.

"They needed help pretty badly," Moon said. "(Stephanie) lost everything in that home in Colorado. Greg is so loved around here that everyone has jumped in to help."

The benefit will be held this Saturday at the Kamrar Lions Building. Food and drink, including beef burgers, chips, coffee and lemonade will be available with a free will donation. The Kamrar Komets 4-H Club will host a bake sale during the benefit. Local businesses have also donated items to be auctioned off at the benefit. The dinner will be served at 5 p.m. and the auction will begin at 6 p.m. and go until 8 p.m.

Moon said that Stephanie Philbrook will be attending the benefit to meet attendees. He said everyone is welcome to the benefit to enjoy time between friends and with the Philbrook family.
