The ceremony was delayed several days due to school weather cancellations, but Friday afternoon the Webster City High School auditorium was packed with students, teachers and parents who gathered to watch the annual Winterfest Coronation.
Katelynn Anderson and Coyce Carlson were selected as the queen and king of Winterfest. They were chosen by the student body in vote held last week. Other members of the court are Kelsey Bahrenfuss, Tiffany Constable, Monica Maharry, Bridget Moriarty, Benjamin Bahrenfuss, Alex Hinz, Cody Roosa, Quinten Westrum. On hand to crown the new king and queen were the 2012 Winterfest royalty, Miranda Wood and Caleb Crouthamel.
The coronation ceremony also featured cheers and dances by the high school cheer leading squads, who also entertained the crowd with two light show performances presented on a darkened stage.
Webster City High School cheerleaders donned suits lined with glow sticks to dance Gangnam style during the Winterfest Coronation ceremony Friday afternoon.
The winter sports teams girls basketball, boys basketball and wrestling were welcomed into the auditorium with applause from the audience. Coaches Nicole Muhlenbruch and Ted Larson, talked about their teams' seasons and introduced team members. Coach Marty McKinney, who was unable to attend, sent a message to the students and the members of his boys basketball team.
Throughout the week, the students took part in various dress up days and activities at the school. The Winterfest dance was held Saturday night.
