CMB forward Haupert torches SH girls for 27 points in HOIC win

Hawks honor seniors Detrick, Jans, Rudy and Stolt at final home game

JEWELL - Abbie Haupert had a field day in the paint here Tuesday night, as the Collins-Maxwell-Baxter junior post player spoiled Senior Night for South Hamilton by leading the Raider to a 52-35 Heart of Iowa Conference victory.

Haupert knocked down 11 shots and 5 of 7 free throws en route to 27 points. She entered the contest averaging 11.2 points per game.

"(Haupert) was difficult for us to stop," South Hamilton head coach Kathi Fisher said. "She's just a very solid player and she's very smooth around the rim."

Shelby Berg added 10 points for the Raiders (7-14, 6-12 HOIC).

South Hamilton (3-17, 2-15 HOIC) were led by two of its seniors; Mattea Detrick dropped in eight points to go along with two assists, and Ella Jans finished with seven points, three assists and two steals.

Classmate Sarah Rudy chipped in two points and eight rebounds. Hailey Stolt joined the three in the starting lineup in her final home game.

"Those seniors have put in a lot of years of dedication, so they're going to be missed," Fisher said.
