Hawks split duals with Eagles, Cougars

Reiter brothers impress coach in team’s final tune-up before 1A sectionals

The Daily Freeman Journal

BOXHOLM - Max Reiter was the lone South Hamilton wrestler to pick up to match victories here Tuesday night, as the Hawks took part in one full dual and another that was barely a dual at all.

South Hamilton opened its evening by rolling up a forfeit-fueled 66-12 victory over Southeast Webster-Grand. The Eagles put just three wrestlers on the mat; the Hawks were awarded forfeit wins at the first 10 weights.

Manson-Northwest Webster won 10 of the 14 weights in a 52-24 victory over the Hawks.

"Top to bottom, (Manson-Northwest Webster) has a very good team and we knew there were going to be some toss up matches in there," South Hamilton head coach Dan Brodie said. "But it was good for our guys to wrestle against them and hopefully this propels us into the postseason on Saturday."

Reiter, a junior 152-pounder, pinned Southeast Webster-Grand's Bryce Scott in 3:04 and then showed the Cougars' Skyler Michalski the lights in 3:48.

Little brother Charlie Reiter, a 106-pound freshman, secured his own fall; he stuck the Cougars' Chase Bulten in 5:40.
