JEWELL - Prairie City-Monroe won the first five weights to build a 28-0 lead and then hung on late to knock off South Hamilton in a Heart of Iowa Conference dual meet here last night.
The Hawks (5-8, 3-4 HOIC) utilized three wins on the mat and four via forfeit to close the gap, but they fell one point short in a 38-37 loss to the Mustangs (7-5, 4-4 HOIC) on Senior Night.
PCM led 38-33 going into the final match. South Hamilton's 152-pounder Max Reiter needed a pin, but wasn't able to get Jade Coleman flat on the mat and he had to settle for an 11-3 major decision win.
