Dorothy Anderson, 81, Stratford

Dorothy Anderson, 81, of Stratford, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Thursday, January 10, 2013, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Dorothy was born December 30, 1931, to Kenneth and Fern (Patterson) Carlson. She graduated from Stratford High School in 1950, and was united in marriage to Marlyn Anderson on June 21, 1952, in Stratford. Dorothy was a homemaker and a lifelong member of the South Marion United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed genealogy, sewing, flowers along with yearly trips to northern Minnesota, Arkansas and her 50th anniversary trip to Sweden researching her ancestral heritage. Dorothy cherished her family deeply.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Marlyn of Stratford; her sons: Randall Anderson and his daughter, Jennifer (Mark) Hoffseth, Mark (Joan) Anderson and their children, Katie (Bart) Olthoff, Becky and Brett Anderson, Gregg (Corinne) Anderson and their children Jeremiah and Joshua Anderson all of Stratford; her daughter, Marlys (Greg) Carlson and their children, Stephanie and Brandon Carlson all of Stratford; her great-grandchildren, Cooper, Sven, Fallyn, Adeline, Adam, Jaxon and Isaac; her brother, Jim (Sherry) Carlson of Boone; her sisters, Pat (Dale) Westrum and Karen (LeRoy) Williams all of Stratford. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters in infancy.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2013, at Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at South Marion United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the South Marion Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the South Marion United Methodist Church in loving memory of Dorothy.
