Stephen R. Jones of Boulder, Colorado died on January 10th, 2013 in Denver,Colorado. He was 66 years old.
Born August 18th, 1946 in Des Moines, Iowa, he was the son of John W. Jones and Marian J. DeBeck of Webster City, Iowa. He married Carolyn L. Weibeler on June 21st, 1975 in Colorado Springs, CO.
He was a graduate of Webster City High School and the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls Iowa, where he received a B.A. in Political Science and Education. He served in the army for three years as a counter-intelligence agent and South Vietnamese linguist in Nha Trang, Vietnam. He spent many years as an educator in Colorado Springs, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. He completed an M.A. in Administration and Supervision at the University of Colorado in Boulder. He was employed as a stock broker with E.F. Hutton and retired with Smith Barney.
Steve was a member of Saint John's Episcopal Church in Boulder. He served on the Board of Directors for several local non-profit groups including the "I Have a Dream" Foundation of Boulder County and Boulder Valley Habitat for Humanity. He also volunteered for the St. Francis Center in Denver.
Survivors include his son, Jason Jones and daughter Sarah Horton, all of Boulder; and sister Cheryl McCosky, who resides in Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Jones of Boulder.
Steve had a passion for the outdoors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sanborn Scholarship Fund, a 501(c)(3) educational organization located in Colorado Springs, CO.
