Early turnovers put Trojans in too deep of hole

January 7, 2013
The Daily Freeman Journal

BLAIRSBURG - Eight turnovers during the game's first 5 minutes and 16 in the opening half pretty much erased any chance the Northeast Hamilton boys' basketball team had at finding success here Friday night.

The Trojans fell behind 20-5 after the opening 8 minutes and never recovered in a 52-29 loss to Iowa Star Conference foe Don Bosco.

"We made very poor decisions with the ball and we're not good enough offensively to get down by 17 or so points," NEH head coach John Seiser said after his club dropped to 4-4 overall and 2-4 in the ISC. "It wasn't that Don Bosco was overly aggressive, but they baited us into making some bad decisions."

It didn't help that Trojans' point guard Trevor Klaver played with the flu, or that backup point guard Hunter Dilley rolled his ankle in pregame warm-ups.

"I felt really bad for Trevor because you could just tell he felt awful," Seiser said. "And it hurts us when he's not out there to handle the ball."

Logan Seiser was the only Trojan in double figures with 14 points. He also collected eight rebounds and four steals.
