Challenge met

More than $18,000 raised for Hamilton County food pantries

The Daily Freeman Journal

In October the Enhance Hamilton County Foundation put out a challenge to raise money for the four food pantries in the county. Hamilton County residents responded to the call and now more than $18,000 is headed for The Lord's Cupboard, the Stratford Food Pantry, Upper Des Moines Opportunity, and Trinity Lutheran Church thanks to the generosity of more than fifty individuals, groups and churches.

According to the EHCF treasurer, Catherine Bergman, the group far exceeded its fund-raising goal. An anonymous donor matched the contributions of Hamilton County citizens, doubling the amount that the food pantries would have received.

"This challenge exceed our expectations. I'm grateful that so many of our county's residents found it in their hearts to donate as a way to help out our fellow citizens who are having a difficult time right now," said EHCF Board President Brian Holt.
