To the editor:
Upper Des Moines Opportunity Inc. would like to thank those who were involved in the Salvation Army Bell Ringing event that took place over the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend.
Especially, our thanks and appreciation goes out to Hy-Vee and Fareway for allowing us to set up the Salvation Army kettles at their stores.
None of this would have been possible without the help of our community volunteers who braved the cold weather and crowds to man the kettles. These individuals were employees of Hamilton County, the City of Webster City and Black Hills Energy, members of the Rotary Club, Morning Kiwanis, Noon Kiwanis, Diamond K Kiwanis and Doug Bailey for the coordination of this event.
The combined effort of the merchants, businesses, volunteers and especially those who contributed financially shows that when a community works together much can be accomplished. This joint effort provided approximately $2,400 that will remain in Hamilton County to help serve local individuals and families. UDMO is dedicated to helping build stronger communities by addressing the effects of poverty on individuals and families.
