Lois Philbrook, age 82, a longtime Kamrar resident, died Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 9, 2012 at Faith United Methodist in Webster City. Burial will follow at Cass Cemetery in Webster City. Visitation is Thursday, November 8, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. also at the church. Becker Funeral and Cremation Service of Jewell is caring for Lois and her family.
Lois Mary Ann Day was born December 24, 1929 in Webster City to Willard and Elva (Rothrock) Day. She grew up in Webster City graduating from Webster City High School in 1947. On December 6, 1947 Lois married Robert Duane Philbrook at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Lois was a nurse's aide in Webster City for many years. She also served as City Clerk of Kamrar. Lois was a member of the Kamrar United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and the quilting circle. She enjoyed gardening, wild life, and sewing.
Lois is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Philbrook Meier of Bettendorf; four sons, Michael Duane Philbrook of Webster City, Randall Ray Philbrook of Kamrar, Bruce Alan Philbrook of Wichita, Kansas, and Gregory Paul Philbrook of Kamrar; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Ellison and Sandra Van Winkle both of Urbandale, and Doris Bonnstetter of Paducah, Kentucky; and a brother, Robert Day of Woolstock. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert in 2003; a son in infancy; her son, William Robert Philbrook; grandson, Joshua Philbrook; and two sisters, Arlene Davis and Donna Day.
