Webster City School officials said that the Police Department notified the district that the situation has been resolved and the lock downs have been lifted as of noon. Pleasant View and Sunset Heights Elementary schools are the only schools in the district affected by the lockdown.
A police spokesman said the lockdown was due to a child custody dispute and was put in place as a safety precaution.
The school district sent out an automated voice messages at 10:25 a.m. telling parents of the incident. A later text message at 10:44 a.m. said "The District has become aware of an online domestic threat. As a precaution, Pleasant View and Sunset Heights are in lockdown. Law enforcement is present."
