CHARLES CITY - The No. 1-ranked Charles City volleyball team was every bit as good as advertised on its home floor last night.

Webster City was mentally up to the task. But physically, forget about it.

With all-state hitter Jessie Sindlinger and the supporting cast around her firing on all cylinders, the Comets (41-1) swept the Lynx (21-13) out of the postseason, 25-9, 25-15, 25-14, in a Class 4A Region 3 semifinal.

"They're by far the best team we've come up against this year and they should make a pretty good run at the tournament," WCHS head coach Jess Howard said of the Comets, who won their 24th consecutive match. "Once they figure out your weakness they attack and attack and attack."

Howard said Sindlinger was a menace, but so was setter Hali Hillegas, who divvied up the assists between five front-row players.

"(Sindlinger) did a lot of damage against us, and their setter is very good. She had us guessing a lot of the time,"?she said.
