The Hamilton County League of Women Voters will sponsor a Candidate's Forum Thursday at 7 p.m. in the City Council chambers at the City Hall in Webster City. LWV officials said the forum will serve as an opportunity for the public to meet the candidates seeking office in the Nov. 6th election.
The candidates expected to attend include Myra Maxon and Carroll Ose who are running for two of the three seats on the Van Diest Medical Center Board of Trustees. Another board candidate, George Heller has announced he will not participate in the forum.
The candidates for the Iowa House and Senate representing Hamilton County have also been invited. They include Democrat Shelly Stotts and Republican Jerry Behn both of Boone who are both competing for the Senate District 24 seat. Democrat Becky Perkovich from Napier, a candidate for the Iowa House 48 seat, will be in attendance. Republican Rob Bacon from Maxwell will not attend the forum as he will be out of state for a family event.
Others invited to the forum will be Catherine Bergman of the Hamilton County S.E.E.D. office to talk about the Hamilton County Hotel/Motel Tax vote. They are Auditor Kim Schaa, Sheriff Dennis Hagenson and Supervisors Doug Bailey and Wes Sweedler, all running unopposed, are also expected to attend.
Each of the candidates will give their opening and closing comments followed by questions submitted from the audience in attendance as well as those watching or listening at home. There will be a chance following the event to meet the candidates and ask them any questions.
The forum will be televised on cable channel 12 in Webster City and broadcast on KQWC FM 95.7.
