STRATFORD?- A?community meeting on Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. at the Stratford Post Office will address the future of the city's Post Office.
Stratford was one of many communities across Iowa and the nation to received surveys from the Postal Service concerning service in the community. The meeting will give the official results of the survey.
In 2011, officials in Stratford learned their Post Office might be on a potential list of offices slated for closure. A committee was formed and the group began to take steps in hopes of keeping the facility open.
In May, the Postal Service reversed its plan to close many small Post Offices, but said it would look at reducing hours of service at those facilities. At the time, Postal Service officials recommended cutting back the hours at the Stratford office from eight hours per day to six.
