BAXTER - A stellar night defensively at net, coupled with balance on the attack allowed the South Hamilton volleyball team to finish off the regular season on a high here last Thursday night.
The Hawks piled up a season-high 21 blocks, including 10 from middle blocker Tiffany Jacobson, and pounded down 24 kills in a 3-0 sweep of Heart of Iowa Conference rival Collins-Maxwell-Baxter, 25-14, 26-24, 25-18.
Alyssa Hegland shredded CMB (7-13, 2-7 HOIC) for seven kills, while Jacobson, Eliana Lowry and Sarah Rudy all lashed four.
"It was nice to see us fight them off and find a way to win. The girls were upbeat and excited," South Hamilton head coach Cindy Holmes said. "We're running a little bit more offense now and making it easier on ourselves."
Hegland, Savana Stangeland and Rachel Drake all came up with three snuffs.
