BLAIRSBURG - Northeast Hamilton students will be participating in the Iowa Youth Survey to be given online between Oct. 1 and Nov. 2.

Survey participation is voluntary and no student is required to participate, according to Superintendent Patrick Hocking.

Students in sixth, eighth and eleventh grade may participate in the survey which is directed by the Iowa Department of Public Health Division of Behavorial Health in collaboration with the Iowa Department of Education and Human Rights.

The survey has been conducted annually since 1975 and helps formulate future programs.

The survey is confidential and students are asked to respond to questions regarding values, feelings of security and safety within their school, community and family. Students are also questioned about sexual values, alcohol consumption, tobacco usage, drug usage, bullying, harassment and violence prevention.
