To the Editor:
On Monday, I accidentally locked my keys in the car at the gas station. The attendant helpfully called the police station for me and I spoke with the officer.
He informed me that for assistance unlocking my car, the fee would be $25. Needless to say, I was shocked. I was brought up to expect the police to assist citizens in need with out charge.
Have times changed so much? Or does the police department need more revenue? I?do think $25 is exorbitant. If they truly need to charge a fee for their gas and time, maybe $10 would be a little more fair.
What's next - charging to show up at the scene of a traffic accident or robbery or mugging?
