HAMPTON The South Hamilton volleyball team went 1-3 on Saturday at the Hampton-Dumont Invitational, pushing its record to 6-15 on the season.
The Hawks dropped pool matches to Iowa Falls-Alden (21-9, 21-16), 11th-ranked (Class 2A) Denver (21-14, 21-17) and Independence (21-4, 21-13). They knocked off the host Bulldogs (23-21, 21-18) in the consolation round.
"Iowa Falls and Denver were really great competition and within those matches we had some situations where we showed some pretty great volleyball," South Hamilton head coach Cindy Holmes said. "We're still working through being that consistent team."
Second-ranked (4A) Charles City rolled to a perfect 6-0 mark to take top honors at the tournament.
South Hamilton will host Greene County on Senior Night this evening.
