Sometimes, a small gesture of appreciation is the best way to tell someone thank you.
And sometimes, in the midst of the bedlam of a hectic school day, a simple act of kindness can mean a lot.
Members of the eighth- grade student council at Webster City Middle School decided to thank their teachers with a little elbow grease. The students took to the front parking lot with window cleaner, towels and thank-you notes. The washed the instructors' windows.
Lincoln Spellmeyer said the afternoon activity was a way to thank their teachers.
"It's a way to honor teachers for what they've done for us," he said. "We want to give something back.
"This is our way of thanking them, said Jordan Hartnett.
Sondra Dyer, guidance counselor, said the activity was one of the first for the year. Other projects include activities for Red Ribbon Week, the election and box-top collection.
