PARKERSBURG - First-year coach TJ Schaefer is in the process of building his South Hamilton football program.
The problem on Friday was that the Hawks' opponent is already built, and has been for some time.
No. 7-ranked Aplington-Parkersburg (5-1, 3-0) bullied South Hamilton (3-3, 1-3) at the point of attack and took advantage of mistakes to run roughshod over the Hawks in a 41-0 Class 1A District 3 victory at the field dubbed "The Sacred Acre."

South Hamilton quarterback Matt Hislop (7) scrambles for yards as Aplington-Parkersburg’s Houston Rosteck (53) gives chase Friday in Parkersburg.
Just how lopsided was the game? Falcons' running back Brady Frey out-gained South Hamilton all by himself by 58 yards and scored three touchdowns in the process in the rout.
"It's tough when you can't run inside and outside, or pass the ball," Schaefer said. "The kids seemed to be a little intimidated when we got there ... it was just tough."
Frey plowed his way to 153 yards rushing - part of Aplington-Parkersburg's 474 yards of total offense, including 355 on the ground - and found the end zone on runs of 1, 11 and 8 yards.

Frey's 1-yard plunge on fourth-and-goal on the Falcons' first possession ignited a six-touchdown night for A-P, which led 21-0 at intermission.
South Hamilton, meanwhile, found it difficult just to keep its head above water. The Hawks compiled just 95 yards of total offense and averaged only 2 yards per play.
Quarterback Matt Hislop did more running for his life than anything else; he was sacked six times and completed just 1 of 10 passes for 35 yards, and he was intercepted three times.
"Matt was pretty much running for his life most of the night," Schaefer said. "But it was a very tough assignment for our line. We've got guys like Jacob Haugland playing guard; he's 158 pounds and he's going up against a kid that's 240. That's tough."
Fullback Sam Waid had 21 of the Hawks' 60 yards rushing.
A-P quarterback Kollin Cuvelier threw one touchdown pass - a 23-yard strike to Tyler Peters with 1:58 left in the first quarter - and ran for another - a 5-yard scamper in the final minute of the first half - and finished with 132 yards of total offense.
Cuvelier completed 8 of 10 passes for 119 yards. He also picked off two of Hislop's passes from his spot in the Falcons' secondary.
"The score right before halftime killed us," Schaefer said. "We were pretty into it until then."
Waid got his hat in on 12 total tackles, including seven solo stops, from his linebacker position. Haugland made 5 tackles, while Josh Doering and Hunter Griffin both had 4.
South Hamilton will take a break from district play this week to take on former Heart of Iowa Conference rival Ogden (4-2) on Friday at Taylor Field in Jewell. The Bulldogs beat Pella Christian, 28-14, on Friday.
