Schools to be dismissed early for parade Friday

Five young women and five young men are vying for the title of Webster City homecoming king and queen. This year's candidates are Erin Anderson, Kaitlyn Biere, Rachel Kauffman, Kaitlyn Kehoe and Morgan Moline for queen and Kirk Greenley, Boone Myers, Nick Olmstead, Jon Tasler and Nick Thilges for king.

The new royalty will be crowned Thursday during Boom Night, which gets underway at 7 p.m. n the Prem Sahai Auditorium.

The speaker for that event will be Guy Leman, a Webster City High School graduate and a former Lynx all-state player and All-American at Simpson College.

Students in Webster City will be released early on Friday for the annual parade through downtown. The parade will travel north on Seneca Street, turn west on Second Street, turn south on Des Moines Street and end at the Webster City Middle School.

That evening, Webster City will face Algona at Lynx Field for the varsity football game, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
