MONROE - Any momentum the South Hamilton volleyball team gained from a 3-0 win over Saydel last Thursday went right out the window here Monday night.
The Hawks had their chances - they led 17-10 in Set No. 2 - but inconsistent play all over the floor was their downfall in a 3-0 loss to Heart of Iowa Conference rival Prairie City-Monroe, 25-17, 25-23, 25-15.
PCM (2-7, 1-2 HOIC) snapped a three-match skid with the win.
"We're still working through some mentality things and just trying to be a consistent team," South Hamilton head coach Cindy Holmes said. "We're just challenging the kids to step up and be leaders right now."
Tiffany Jacobson was the anchor at net for South Hamilton (4-8, 1-2 HOIC) with four kills and four blocks. Alyssa Hegland and Eliana Lowry both lashed three kills, and Lowry collected 2 blocks.
Libero Hannah Pulis came up with nine digs and Sarah Rudy had six. Carly Swenson led a trio of setters with seven assists.
