Meth conspiracy charges set for WC threesome

Trial is Nov. 5 for Alicia Mofle, Ryan Kern and Kevin Peterson

Alicia Mofle, 25, Ryan Kern, 44, and Kevin Peterson, 45, all from Webster City, have been charged with one count of conspiracy to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine and one count manufacture and attempting to manufacture methamphetamine. Mofle and Kern are also charged with possession of pseudoephedrine with intent to manufacture methamphetamine and Peterson is charged with an additional count of distribution of methamphetamine. The charges are contained in indictments filed on June 21, and Aug. 29, in United States District Court in Sioux City.

The indictments allege that, on or about January 2010 through August 2012, Mofle, Kern and Peterson conspired to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine. The indictments allege that on or about April 24 of this year, Mofle and Kern manufactured and attempted to manufacture methamphetamine, and on or about Jan. 22, 2012, Peterson is charged with the same offense.

The indictment against Mofle and Kern also alleges that from about January 2010 through May 2012, they possessed pseudoephedrine with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine. And the indictment against Peterson alleges that on or about April 23, 2012, he distributed methamphetamine. The manufacturing conspiracy, at least in part, occurred within 1,000 feet of Nokomis City Park, Webster City.

If convicted on all charges, Mofle and Kern face a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years' imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment, a $20,000,000 fine, $300 in special assessments, and at least ten years of supervised release following any imprisonment. If Peterson is convicted on all charges he faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years' imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment, a $40,000,000 fine, $300 in special assessments, and at least ten years of supervised release.

Trial for Mofle, Kern and Peterson has been scheduled for November 5, 2012.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde and was investigated by the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Webster City Police Department, Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
