The Daily Freeman Journal

CLARION - Northeast Hamilton's volleyball season got off to a rocky start against mostly larger schools here on Saturday, as the Trojets dropped all five of their bouts at the Clarion-Goldfield Invitational.

Northeast Hamilton fell in straight sets to Clarion-Goldfield (21-8, 21-16), Clear Lake (21-12, 21-8), Eagle Grove (21-9, 21-5) and North Butler (21-11, 21-14).

The Trojets (0-5) took one set off Iowa Star Conference rival CAL and were within a few points of coming away with a victory before eventually falling in three tight sets (21-17, 16-21, 15-13).

Clarion-Goldfield, Clear Lake and North Butler all won four matches on the day.

Jennifer Jeffers, Andi Anderson and Kaylee Massman supplied the majority of the power at net for the Trojets. Jeffers finished with nine kills, Anderson eight and Massman seven.

Anderson, Jeffers, Massman and Molly Greenfield all collected 19 digs, while Sarah Elm and Jaidyn Timm both finished with 17.
