Construction of additions to the Webster City Hy-Vee store are currently ahead of schedule, according to store director Mike Auderer. Hy-Vee has moved its customer service area to the front of the store as they continue to renovate the pharmacy area. Auderer said the pharmacy is scheduled to be completed on Aug. 28.
'By expanding the pharmacy, it will give [staff] more work area," Auderer said. "When it's done, it'll be pretty nice."
Work has also begun on a new wine and spirits section of the store. Auderer said ground is being broken now and construction on the addition will begin in ernest at the beginning of Sept. after the pharmacy is completed.
The wine and spirits section will offer a larger selection of alcoholic beverages, including a walk-in beer cooler. Auderer said it will be similar to the wine and spirits sections that other Hy-Vee locations offer. A hallway will be constructed between the main building and the new section, and a separate entrance will be built for entry from the parking lot.
The dining area will also be renovated. Auderer said there will be all new fixtures, including booths, chairs, tables and lighting. A new beverage area is also being built for the dining area.
Auderer moved from the Hy-Vee location in Ottumwa, where he was also general manager and has been working at the Webster City store for six weeks. He said the transition has been eased by his staff and the people of Webster City.
"It's a very friendly town, very welcoming, and it's great to be here," Auderer said.
