LWV straw poll results are revealed

Voters favor expanded bottle law, but not online voting

The League of Women Voters of Hamilton County have released the results of the straw poll taken during the Hamilton County Fair last week.

The LWV had a booth in the Ed Prince Building during the fair. Visitors were invited to voice their opinion on several topics. Voters cast 269 ballots during fair week.

The results are as follows:

Should the Iowa bottle deposit law be expanded to include non-carbonated beverages such as tea and water? Yes: 211; No: 57

Should texting while driving be a primary cause for a traffic stop? Yes: 218; No: 49

Should traffic cameras be allowed in rural communities? Yes: 107; No: 159

Should government continue to provide some funding for Planned Parenthood-like organizations? Yes: 177; No: 90

Should online voting be an option: Yes: 78; No: 187
