Advanced Family Medicine has welcomed Sarah L. Scott, ARNP to its practice. The new nurse practitioner specializes in women's, pediatric and acute care and started taking patients in June.

Scott is a Hamilton County native, growing up on a farm north of Ellsworth. She graduated from South Hamilton High School and attended Allen College in Waterloo. She graduated from Allen with a bachelor of science degree in nursing and a family nurse practitioner degree. Scott worked for four years as a surgical nurse at Allen Hospital. She is married to Barry Scott, and they live on an acreage near Iowa Falls.

Scott said that she knew that she always wanted to be a nurse.

Sarah Scott, ARNP, has started seeing patients at Advanced Family Medicine in Webster City. She is a Hamilton County native from Ellsworth.

"As a little kid, I dressed up as one every year for Halloween," she said. "My great aunt was an OB nurse in Webster City for more than 40 years. I wanted to be like her because she loved her job so much."

Scott said that she was glad to be back in Hamilton County.

"I really like taking care of people," she said. "And I wanted to be more involved with my patients' care.

"I enjoy the people in the area. They are down to earth and friendly."

After working in a hospital setting, Scott knew she wanted to transition to an area in nursing where she could have more time to talk with patients.

"It has been nice," she said. "This is a family-oriented practice, where I can sit down and be able to listen to my patient and their needs."

Advanced Family Medicine is located at 903 Willson Avenue.
