RANDALL - The Randall city council discussed a Revitalization Assistance for Community Improvement grant for its volunteer fire department when it met for the July session last week.
The city will provide $2,000 in matching funds for the grant from the Fiscal Year 2014 budget, and another $2,000 will come from the fire department Fiscal Year 2014 budget plus $1,000 from the department's association account. Also, if the grant is funded, Reliant Bank will donate $500.
The grant, the only one submitted to RACI from Randall, will be used for fire department equipment, six sets of bunker gear and 300 feet of hose.
In other business, council members discussed renewal of property tax abatement for new homes built in Randall. Approval was given to renew tax abatement for five years.
Also, Alan Hanson, maintenance director, reported that water and sewer lines had been capped on property adjoining Elim Lutheran Church so that the house there can be leveled. The church has purchased the property.
In maintenance issues, the council approved a bid from Brandon's Parking Lot Maintenance of Webster City for seal coating on city street cracks. The project will be done in early fall.
Local residents Steve and Nicole Arthur were at the meeting to discuss sidewalk repair in front of their home, which the council reviewed with them.
