To the Editor:
The Senior Center is the perfect place to go to visit with friends. Going to congregate meals gives me a reason to get up every day, get dressed and get out of the house. A lot of older people who live alone, don't have any place else to go. It's good to be able to greet so many friends every day.
I like going to congregate meals. I don't have to fuss with menu planning and fixing food at home for the noon meal.
Congregate meals is good for those who live alone, because now they have someone to talk to while they are eating.
The senior citizens in our community have lived and worked here, were productive members of society and paid taxes all those years. The community owes it to these senior citizens to keep the senior center and congregate meals available to them.
The city plans to spend $50,000 on RAGBRAI, for people who are not even residents of Webster City. The city should be able to keep the senior citizens building in the annual budget.
