JEWELL - It was Senior Night on Friday at the Mike Penning Athletic Complex, a chance for the players on the way out to do what they do best one last time for the home fans.
Shannon Hoyle obliged.
The South Hamilton senior slugger blasted her 10th home run of the season - a two-run shot in the third inning - and finished a double short of the cycle to propel the Hawks to a 9-5 victory over Heart of Iowa Conference rival Nevada.
It was the third straight win - the longest streak of the season - for South Hamilton (10-18, 5-11 HOIC), which will now get ready for Tuesday's Class 2A Region 6 opener against Ogden on the Bulldogs' home turf at 7 p.m.
Hoyle led an 11-hit surge off Nevada (2-24, 1-15 HOIC) pitcher Alex Van Dam. Brittany Nicholson ripped a single and double, and she drove in two runs before she was forced to exit the game with an injured elbow sustained on a line drive. Elisabeth Elsner and Carly Swenson also had multiple hits, and Elsner collected an RBI.
Mattea Detrick added a double, Cayla Carlson had a single and RBI, and Kayla Lucas drove in another.
