The Daily Freeman Journal

LUVERNE - The Northeast Hamilton baseball team scored at least three runs in every inning, and the result was the Trojans were able to get home a bit early last night as they hammered CWL, 17-2 in 4 innings.

The Trojans (5-16) racked up 13 hits, and they put up three runs in the first inning, five in both the second and third, and four in the fourth to close out the Panthers (0-14).

"It was good to see us do things fundamentally right," NEH head coach Brandon Kelley said. "Over the last three games we've executed really well."

Gabe Rapp picked up the pitching victory - he allowed just two hits and struck out seven - and at the plate he went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs. Logan Seiser went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, two coming on his extra-base hit in the third inning.

Marcus Mechaelsen picked up two hits in three plate appearances, while Stephen Chamness, Jacob Brim, Austin Smith, Kyle Pruismann, Jacob Ratzke and Mark Frohwein all had one hit. Mechaelsen, Brim, Chamness and Ratzke all drove in runs.

NEH will return home today to host the Meskwaki Settlement School at 5 p.m.
