PRAIRIE CITY - A three-run fourth inning propelled Prairie City-Monroe past South Hamilton for a 4-2 Heart of Iowa Conference baseball victory here last night.
The Mustangs (17-2, 10-1 HOIC) rolled up 11 hits against Hawks' pitcher Lane Heinlein, but only two of their runs were earned. South Hamilton (8-8, 4-6 HOIC) committed three errors.
The Hawks collected seven hits and scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Heinlein went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI at the dish, and Chris Jacobson drove in a run as well with a single.
Devin Howard, John Hegland, Lucas Olson and Trevor Ullestad added singles.
South Hamilton will be at home tonight to face Saydel at 7:30 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for last Friday, but was postponed because of rain.
