ALGONA - Algona wanted Dylan Fielder at the plate in a pressure situation here last night, but the Bulldogs got more than they bargained for.
Following an intentional walk to Jonny Davis that loaded the bases in the eighth inning, Fielder smoked a shot to the right side of the field for a three-run double that gave Webster City an insurmountable lead in a 7-4 extra innings North Central Conference victory.
It snapped the Lynx seven-game skid.
"It feels like about a month since we've won, so I'm really happy for the kids," WCHS head coach Seth McGrane said. "We made mistakes, but we didn't hang our heads and we kept pushing forward."
McGrane said he didn't need to say anything to Fielder before he stepped into the batter's box for his final plate appearance.
"I don't think anything needed to be said," McGrane said. "I looked at his face and you could tell he was up to the challenge."

Every player in the WCHS (4-11, 2-7 NCC) lineup recorded at least one hit, and the Lynx finished with 13 on the night. There was a reason Algona (8-9, 4-5 NCC) gave Davis a free pass; he went 3-for-4 to lead the way.
Garrett Gourley and Alex Oswald both ripped two singles in the win. Caleb Crouthamel and Trey Tesdahl both notched RBI base hits; Sam Mossman, Doug Stoakes and Ben Mossman added singles.
Davis started on the hill for the Lynx and worked into the seventh inning. Ben Mossman came on in relief and earned the victory.
Davis and Mossman combined to limit the Bulldogs to just five hits.
