BASEBALL: No. 5 Clear Lake rallies, routs Lynx

June 14, 2012
The Daily Freeman Journal

WEBSTER CITY - The Webster City baseball team had hope of pulling off a North Central Conference upset last night at Lynx Field.

Through one inning anyway.

Webster City (3-11, 1-7 NCC) rattled off seven runs in its first at bat, but fifth-ranked (Class 3A) Clear Lake never panicked and steadily caught up and ran past en route to a 17-7, 6-inning victory over the Lynx.

Trailing 7-2 after the first, the league-leading Lions (13-3, 6-1 NCC) notched two runs in the second, one in the third, three in the fourth, four in the fifth and five in the sixth.

WCHS pitchers Jonny Davis, Ben Mossman and Cody Jondal combined to issue 11 walks. Davis started and took the loss; the senior came back to the mound in the fifth, an inning after he was relieved by Mossman. Jondal worked in the sixth.

Clear Lake had 11 hits, including doubles by Michael Keeran and Tanner Tusha.
