She is the daughter of Steve and Nancy Long, of Webster City, and a 2011 Webster City High School graduate. She is attending Central College in Pella.

The Iowa Motor Carriers Foundation is a division of the Iowa Motor Truck Association and has been rewarding scholarships since 1986 to Iowans pursuing an advanced degree at an Iowa college or university. This year the foundation awarded 11 - $1,000 scholarships.

Long is the recipient of the Motor-Ways, Inc. Scholarship. Motor-Ways, Inc. is a longtime IMTA?member that offers a variety of insurance products to the trucking industry. It established the scholarship in an effort to show their support of young Iowans pursuing continued education.
