BRITT - The Northeast Hamilton softball team had the bases loaded with just one out in the seventh inning as it attempted to rally against West Hancock here last night, but a game-ending double play sent the Trojets to their fifth straight setback, 7-4.
"We played pretty well and we hit the ball decent against a pretty good team," NEH head coach Dave Hilton said. "But the bottom line is we get chances and we just don't take advantage of them."
Caity Hassebrock roped three singles and drove in a run, part of the Trojets' eight-hit attack. Jennifer Jeffers had a single and double, Jenn Willems and Molly Greenfield both laced RBI singles, and Leah Meyer added a base knock.
Greenfield suffered the loss in the circle. She fanned seven West Hancock (4-1) batters and walked just one.
NEH (0-5) will travel to Burnside on Thursday to face Southeast Webster-Grand.
