W.C. Elementary PTO thanks community for its support

May 30, 2012
The Daily Freeman Journal

To the Editor:

On behalf of the Webster City Elementary PTO we would like to express our gratitude to the community of Webster City, our donors, and all of the individuals who helped to make the 2012 Family Night Carnival a huge success. We were overwhelmed by the response of both businesses and individuals to contribute time, money and items so the students at both Pleasant View and Sunset elementary schools could spend a much deserved evening celebrating another school year drawing to a close.

The Carnival featured inflatable attractions, carnival games, a huge prize booth, cotton candy, popcorn, spin art, door prizes and a free meal for all elementary students and their families. Due to the generous support of our local businesses we were able to offer all of these activities free to all those who were able to attend.

A huge thank you goes to the many volunteers who donated their time to help pull off this fantastic event. Without these volunteers we would have had to call on parents of the students to run events and booths, and it was quite a thrill to be able to run almost the entire Carnival with high school and middle school students, all of whom did a fantastic job engaging the younger students and maintaining a safe and fun atmosphere.

Thanks to Mark Brim for supplying a generator which enabled the use of two additional inflatable attractions, the Lynx Wrestlers for assisting with set up, and to the Lynx Softball players and WC2DC for helping with clean up.

The Midwest Rampage also offered much appreciated help by providing security for all of the inflatables. The children were excited to have a chance to interact with these local celebrities, and the committee was thrilled to have reliable and trustworthy individuals to fulfill an important role in looking after the safety of the students.

The final thank you goes to the local businesses who gave either monetary donations or items so that we could provide door prizes for over 300 children. The students were ecstatic to have the chance to win something, and the opportunity to provide that many preK-4th graders with a prize was a large reason why the event was so successful. Thank you to: A&T Auto, Blank Park Zoo, Casey's General Store, Casady Bros. Implement, Critter Nation, Designer Graphics, Edward Jones , Fareway, First American Bank, First State Bank, Fuller Hall, Godfather's Pizza, Hy-Vee, ICubs, J&C Builders, Kum&Go, Leon's Pizza, Mary & Co., McDonalds, North Central Chiropractic, People's Credit Union, pHairytales, R Company, Seneca Street Saloon, Shoppers Supply, True Value, Van Diest Supply Co., Verizon, Webster City Federal, Webster City Fire Department, Webster City Medical Clinic , Webster Theatre, Whoop-ti-doos & La-ti-, as, Wolfe Family Vision Center, Woolstock Equipment.

Our thanks for making the 2012 Elementary Family Night Carnival a fantastic night; we could not have done it without you.
