BLAIRSBURG - A three-hit, complete game on the mound from senior right-hander Marcus Mechaelsen propelled the Northeast Hamilton baseball team to its first win of the season here on Friday.
Mechaelsen fanned 12 and walked four in a 5-2 victory over Iowa Star Conference rival Tripoli.
The Trojans (1-2, 1-0 ISC) scored two runs in the second inning, one in the third and two in the fourth to build a commanding 5-0 lead. The Panthers (1-3, 0-1 ISC) answered with two in the sixth.
Gabe Rapp was 2 for 4 at the plate with two runs batted in for the Trojans, while Jacob Ratzke finished 2 for 2 with a double off Tripoli pitcher Ty Bergmann. Stephen Chamness, Logan Seiser, Jacob Brim and Austin Smith all singled.
