Alice Kramer, 97, of 1509 W. 7th Ave. N., Clear Lake, Iowa died Sunday May 20, 2012 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held 1:00p.m. Thursday May 24, 2012, at the Evangelical Free Church, 1310 Hwy 18 W., Clear Lake, Iowa with Rev. Dan Jordan officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, Iowa and then one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be in Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake, IA. Family suggests memorials to Evangelical Free Church or American Heart Association.
Alice was born Feb. 15, 1915 on a farm near Wellsburg, Iowa the daughter of John and Anna (Ross) Bakker. She attended country school at Shiloh No. 8 Wellsburg, Iowa. She worked at home and the family farm. Alice married Harold Kramer Feb. 21, 1935. When the children were old enough to take care of themselves, she started working at different restaurants and then owned and operated Alice's Corner Caf in Mason City for many years. Alice retired at age 73. She loved to cook for her family and do quilting and fancy work. Alice is a member of the Evangelical Free Church.
Alice is survived by six children Janice Lemon and her husband Gerald "Gary", Fairmont, MN, Joyce Pruismann and her husband James, Bondurant, IA, Mervin Kramer and his wife Patricia, Urbandale, IA, Larry Kramer and his wife Joan, Poulsbo, WA, Julie Hanson and her husband James, Clear Lake, IA and George Kramer and his wife Mary, Baudette, MN; grandmother of 27, great-grandmother of 48, great-great-grandmother of 6; her brother Meint Bakker and his wife Bonita, Madison, WI., daughter-in-law Barb Halsne, Blairsburg, IA and several nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold (Nov. 23, 2004), daughter JoAnn Kalvig, son Dennis Kramer, infant son Leon Kramer; grandsons Paul Kramer and Jeff Pruismann, granddaughter Alice Kalvig; great granddaughter Kaitlin Hanson; son-in-law Elmer Kalvig and brothers Gratus, Everett, Gerrit, and Mennie Bakker.
