To the Editor:
This is a plea to anyone who is a senior citizen or who is interested in senior citizens to please come to the city council meeting on Monday at 7 p.m. in the council chambers.
We lost our focus when RSVP left our building and we need to re-group as an organization. We can't do that without the help of the community and our leaders at city hall.
The Center provides a balanced meal to seniors Monday through Friday through Congregate Meals. It provides a place to gather with friends to play bridge, 500, bingo, pool, crafts or just socialize with friends and neighbors.
Some of our advocates include Dr. Sahai, Bob Erickson, Dr. Don Woodhouse to name a few. They will tell you how important it is to the elderly to have a place to gather, socialize or do mentoring and reading activities with our elementary children. One of the recent activities undertaken was the Pen Pal program, and it was very effective.
Please support Webster City seniors. Don't sell our building. Don't abandon the seniors who have supported and worked in our community for many years. We still can be a force to be reckoned with. We love our homes, we support our downtown and our restaurants, and we pay our taxes!
Show up and show us that you support us on Monday.
