Lynx girls 7th at 3A district meet

HUMBOLDT - The Webster City girls' golf team shot a 513 and placed seventh yesterday at a Class 3A district meet at the Humboldt Country Club.

Clear Lake (348) and Spencer (401) took the top two spots and advanced to next Monday's regional meet at Veteran's Memorial Golf Club in Clear Lake. The Lions turned in four of the top five individual scores, highlighted by meet medalist Meg Monson, who shot an 82.

Maddy Miller led Webster City with a 117. Shannon Swon (121), Megan Gilbert (132) and Taylor Chamberlin (143) were also scoring golfers.

"We continued to struggle on the putting surface, but with some work this summer I think that we will improve," WCHS coach Catherine Schroeder said. "We have the talent to score in the 50s, now we need to believe that we can do it."
