WEBSTER CITY - Troublesome winds and the inability to hold onto leads led to a dual-meet loss for the Webster City girls' tennis team Friday afternoon at the WCHS courts.
Five matches were decided by one or two games, but the Lynx won just one of them in an 8-1 setback against North Polk.
"Right in the middle of the meet the wind really picked up and it got really cold," WCHS head coach Heather Kierzek said. "The girls have trouble playing in the wind, and they're also not used to being ahead."

WATERLOO - Webster City blanked Grundy Center, 5-0, in the first round of a Class 1A regional team tournament here on Saturday, but the Lynx were on the receiving end of a 5-0 decision in the quarterfinals against South Tama.
Kasey Adams rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Erica Papst in the No. 1 slot to start the rout of Grundy Center. Cambria Hoffmann lost just one game in a straight sets win, while Ariel Clabaugh, Kelsey Bahrenfuss and Lynne Chalfant also won convincingly.
"It was good to get the win over Grundy Center to give us some confidence, but South Tama was just too strong throughout their entire lineup," Kierzek said.
South Tama surrendered just eight games en route to five consecutive straight sets singles wins.
