Five eighth-grade students selected as contest finalists

May 4, 2012
The Daily Freeman Journal

Five eighth-grade students whose artwork was entered into a national contest through Celebratingart.com (sponsored by Dick Blick Art Materials) by their art teacher, Lisa M. Jorgensen (Middle School Art), have been accepted past the first stage of the contest. They will be published within the contest book (Spring 2012).

Those students are: Ryan Anderson, Jenna Arbaugh, Colton Koestner, Katy McFarland and Jaeger Zuetlau.

When they grant permission, these students will be eligible for the second stage of the contest in which 10 winners from each level (their level being Grade 7 through 9) across the nation are selected for prizes and free copies of the publication.

"Not every entry is considered for publication so having five out of five entries accepted is a great accomplishment for each student and our school," Jorgensen said. "Be sure when you see these students in and outside of school to congratulate them on their success and wish them the best of luck for the next stage of the contest."
